Sugarless gum often contains Xylitol. This non sugar sweetener is safe for humans but can be fatal to dogs and cats. Even 1-2 pieces can kill your pet. Should your pet eat gum, bring the wrappers if possible. Immediate medical attention can save your pet’s life. We can see life threatening hypoglycemia (very low blood sugar), clotting problems, and even liver failure.

Insure that gum and chocolate are put in places that your pet can’t reach. Teach your children how dangerous these things are to their pet.
